About Lynette The Piercing Shop began as a small business run from Lynette Rose's house in the early 1990's. Lynette's passion for piercing began as a teenager in the 1960's when she got her first taste after piercing her own ears with a needle. Lynette then proceeded to pierce her girlfriends' ears, and even then at such as early age, she always concerned with the cleanliness of her procedures. Throughout Lynette's life, piercing has always been something of a hobby. It wasn't until between the late 1980's and early 1990's that she began to take body piercing a lot more seriously as a profession. She began running her piercing studio from her home in Greenslopes and word quickly spread as she was one of the first recognised body piercers in Brisbane. Even when the practice was in its early stages, Lynette has always kept client profile cards, offered all clients a free check up and upheld exceptional sterilisation standards. It was because she encouraged people to consult her after the piercing was already done that she became an expert at healing piercings and much of this was learnt from first hand experience. When Lynette finally decided to open a shop, she decided that she should seek some formal training. She made a journey to England but was disappointed to find that they couldn't really teach her anything new and was shocked at the lack of professionalism. Disillusioned with the industry she made it her own personal ambition to set the highest standard possible in terms of hygiene and service. Many people have claimed to work under Lynette, however the truth is that very few of these people have actually worked in The Piercing Shop. Our aim is to provide the best service that you will not find anywhere else. Appointments are required and the shop is opened 7 days a week. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical hygiene and piercing care. Our sterile techniques and hygiene are paramount. All our needles are single use, and all other equipment is autoclaved. We spore test on a weekly basis and assess autoclave functions on a daily basis. We have 4 private piercing rooms and a female and male piercer available. Recently we have spent more money than ever in training staff members in sterilisation. Lynette herself has attended a sterilisation course to expand her knowledge in sterilisation, microbiology, infection control and environmental cleaning. We have installed new systems in tracking all of our packages. Every package that is used on an individual is traceable back to that client. All jewellery that is implanted in a new piercing is either pre sterilised in its own packet, or if it comes out of the counter it is done in what is called a "flash load" in one of our autoclaves. In the body piercing industry Lynette strongly believes that she should only specialises in body piercing and does not believe that piercings should be done in an environment that is exposed to dust or hair particles. She is really into the healing of the piercings and we actually heal a lot of piercings that come from other piercing studios and correct other people's mistakes. We specialise in stretchings, large gauge piercings, and we also have a new technique for surface piercings. Lynette expanded The Piercing Shop and now has its on jewellery shop called "Jewellery Plus". Jewellery Plus will be your first introduction to The Piercing Shop. It stocks the biggest range of jewellery from within Australia and from around the world and also has other piercing paraphernalia. Besides stocking gold, surgical steel, titanium, niobium and acrylic jewellery it also stocks a range of assorted glass jewellery and jade and we also sell our own piercing wash and piercing shop T-shirts. Lynette is also opening another piercing shop in the Queen Street Mall. It is going to be at 117 Queen Street, Level 2 in the Wallace Bishop building. It also has lift access for wheelchairs and parents with prams. The shop will be opening end of September 2001. We will keep you posted on the new piercing shop.
